RACSS membership runs from September to September.  All memberships need to be renewed at the start of the school year. Please complete the form below if you have not renewed. Membership is $10.00 (free if you are a first year teacher). Please indicate if this is a change of address. Thank you for your continued commitment to the field of social studies.

·Our newsletter, The Express, keeps you abreast of important opportunities for seminars and workshops, summer programs, and educational grants. It contains up-dates on new methods, curricular materials and testing from SED and latest developments and trends in social studies education.

 

·Our joint Annual Conference, held in the fall of each year, provides an opportunity to share successful materials and teaching strategies with other professional educators and provides a forum for distinguished speakers. The Materials Exhibit allows you to examine the most up-to-date print, audio-visual, and computer oriented materials available from more than fifty major publishers.

 

·Our numerous Committees, Programs, and Officer Positions allow you the opportunity to provide leadership in the field of social studies education.

 

·Our close and Active Involvement with the State Education Department gives you a powerful voice in shaping the social studies curricular and testing requirements of the State of New York.

 

·Our all over program, in short, offers you the opportunity for interaction with other dedicated educators and the means for enhancing your Professional Growth.

*****RACSS MINI GRANTS

 

RACSS is again offering two $150 mini-grants to help its members develop special social studies programs and projects.  Grant guidelines are purposefully broad to encourage classroom creativity and imaginative planning.  Proposals will be judged on their instructional merit – how they might promote student learning of important social studies content, skills and /or attitudes and behaviors.  Winners will be announced at the annual RACSS dinner in the spring.  Use the link below to download the application.
